    Ted Brown - Biography

    Ann LawlorCouncillor

    Ward 2 Councillor

    Tel: 905 877-2323

    Interests:

Local history, heritage, and promoting agriculture in Halton Hills

Ted is the newest Councillor to sit at the table of Halton Hills Council. A lifelong resident of Halton Hills, he is the sixth generation Brown living on his heritage family farm property that dates back to 1826. He operates a mixed farming operation, raising purebred sheep with some cash cropping. For more than 30 years, Ted worked as a reporter/photographer/columnist with the Independent & Free Press newspaper, covering stories all across Halton Hills. Being with the media kept him well informed of issues in town, as well as fostering a close working relationship with every mayor, councillor, Town CAO and Town Department heads as well as the Halton Regional Chairs in office during that time period. Ted served on the Halton Agricultural Advisory Committee (HAAC), a citizen advisory committee within Halton Region from 2010 to 2014. The committee’s task is to advise Halton Region staff and council in an effort to build and maintain an economically viable agricultural industry as an important component of Halton’s economic base. Ted sat on the 2012 Halton Hills Town Brand Steering Committee to establish a Town brand. Ted was a director on the Halton Region Museum Foundation Board for five years. The Foundation is responsible for fundraising renovations of the Museum. For more than a decade, Ted sat on the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Committee to select worthy recipients from numerous nominations of businesses and employees.
