The Town of Halton Hills is seeking a motivated and experienced Recreation Coordinator – Active Living to lead the development, coordination, and delivery of high‑quality, year‑round Active Living programs for the community.

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor- Community Programs, this position is responsible for the planning, supervising, and administering a comprehensive suite of recreation programs that promote health, wellness, and inclusion. The Recreation Coordinator works collaboratively with Hillsview Active Living Centres and community partners at the local, regional, and provincial levels to maximize participation, innovation, and community benefit.

Accountabilities:

• Maintain current knowledge of program specialty and industry standards and provide current content within the program design

• Develop, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate a comprehensive range of active living programs, including instructional sport, fitness, and special events

• Implement and monitor compliance with all Town and Department policies, procedures, safety standards, and quality assurance frameworks

• Develop and implement the Active Living work plan

• Provide project management and support long‑range service planning aligned with departmental and corporate priorities

• Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and recognize program staff to ensure high‑quality service delivery

• Design and support volunteer services that enhance programs and special events

• Liaise and collaborate with internal departments, community partners, service providers, elected officials, and external agencies

• Serve as a Department representative on internal and external committees

• Liaise with media to promote programs and services and enhance public awareness

• Ensure customer inquiries, participant communications, and issue resolution are addressed in a timely, professional, and proactive manner

• Develop and maintain schedules, staffing plans, inventories, and program systems

• Administer and monitor approved operating budgets for Active Living services

• Order and manage equipment and supplies related to program delivery

• Maintain statistical information, documentation, and reports to support planning and continuous improvement

• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Town policies, including staff certifications and facility safety standards

• Perform other related duties consistent with the scope of the position

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Recreation, Kinesiology, Fitness and Health Promotion or related field considered an asset 

• Over 3 years’ experience coordinating recreation programs in a municipal setting

• Specialty knowledge or recognized qualifications around working with older adults

• Experience in program planning and implementation

• Fitness certification in Can Fit or CCAA- SFIC considered an asset

• Standard First Aid/CPRC

• Parks and Recreation Ontario HIGH FIVE® PHA certification

• Proven customer service skills and working with the public

• Strong communication skills

• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others

• Ability to ensure high level of confidentiality is maintained

Compensation:

The rate of pay for this position (35 hours per week), $45.12/hour -$53.71. This position will work primarily daytime hours between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and scheduled programs as required, including some evenings and weekends.

Reporting to the Manager of Inspections, this position is responsible for performing field inspections of all buildings to ensure compliance with the Building Code Act, Ontario Building Code and relevant standards and policies.

Accountabilities:

• Perform mandatory inspections for large and complex buildings and designated structures to ensure that Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Site Servicing and Building Mechanical and Fire Protection Systems work complies with building permit documentation, the Ontario Building Code, Building Code Act, Applicable Law, Technical Standards, and all other applicable legislations, standards and by-laws

• Inspect unsafe buildings, including buildings damaged by fire, wind, snow, earthquake, impacts, or similar events and issue respective Orders

• Evaluate the alternative materials, systems and processes used in the construction to determine whether they provide the level of performance proposed by the reviewed building permit documentation

• Make timely, practical and appropriate decisions at the time of inspections based on knowledge, expertise, and particular

Qualifications:

• 3-year College Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering at the Technologist level

• 9 years of experience in municipal building code enforcement as well as construction site experience

• Registration with the Ministry of Housing for the following categories: General Legal, House, Small Buildings, Large Buildings, Complex Buildings, Building Services, Building Structural, Plumbing All Buildings, On-site Sewage Disposal Systems, Detection, Lighting & Power and Fire Protection

• In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of the Building Code Act and Architectural, Structural, Building Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire protection, Electrical and Energy Efficiency requirements of the Ontario Building Code

• In-depth knowledge of building materials, designs, processes, construction principles and all applicable standards

Hours of Work:  

Successful candidates can expect to work varying shifts.  Winter hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. or scheduled on a Winter Patrol shift which could include weekends and holidays. In addition, successful candidates may be required to be on standby for weekends, and work overtime as required, including weekends and holidays.

Crossing Guards - Part Time (202606)

As a School Crossing Guard (Standby), you will escort school children across a roadway safely at designated school crossing locations in accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and of Town of Halton Hills guidelines.  Hours of work will be based on the need to cover temporary staff absences.

Accountabilities:

• Obey all established traffic safety regulations to ensure pedestrians (going to and from school) are assisted in crossing roadways at designated locations

ActiVan Specialized Transit Operators -  Part Time (202607)

Reporting to the Transit Supervisor, this position is responsible for the safe and on-time transportation, assistance and comfort of passengers to various destinations. This position also ensures adequate fuel is available, fluids are topped-up in the vehicle for the day’s schedule, the exterior and interior of the vehicle is clean and free of safety hazards. The Operator promotes a pleasant, customer focused and professional atmosphere.

Accountabilities:

• Operate assigned ActiVan vehicle in a variety of weather conditions, including hydraulic lift, electric and/or manual ramp

• Inspect interior and exterior of the vehicle and complete a logged circle check at the beginning and at the end of each shift, as well as visual exterior check of the vehicle when left unattended for more than 10 minutes; report any mechanical problems and complete a maintenance request form as needed

• Clean exterior and interior of transit vehicle to be free of salt, dirt and debris and remove garbage trash from the vehicle

• Fuel and top up all fluids for transit vehicle

• Physically assist passengers with disabilities passengers and seniors (including those using wheelchairs and scooters) to board and de-board the vehicle

• Load and secure wheelchairs, walkers and scooter using Q-Straint

• Ensure that all Town of Halton Hills Policies, Procedures and Practices, are adhered to and that all passengers adhere to wheelchair and scooter policies

• Log-in to the Automatic Vehicle Locator (A.V.L.) system at the beginning and log-off at the completion, of each shift. Utilize A.V.L. system by indicating pick up and departure of clients and communicates with dispatch using canned messages during their shift.

• Interpret schedule, plan route and drive passengers to specified destinations, verifying any changes to the schedule, and following Dispatcher’s instructions and responds to emergency situations with minimal supervision

• Collect cash fare and fare tickets

• In the event of an accident or emergency, ensures passengers’ safety and follow ActiVan emergency procedures

• Complete all forms and reports as required

• Report health and safety hazards and applies safety precautions and procedures in connection with the duties performed as required by WHMIS, MTO, ActiVan Policy and Procedures and Occupational Health and Safety Act

• Conduct work in a professional manner to convey a positive image of the Town of Halton Hills and wears supplied ActiVan uniforms at all times
