Earth Week 2026Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, organized events, and helped make Earth Week 2026, held from April 18 to 25, a success. Together, we are making a meaningful difference by taking action to support a resilient and healthy environment for our community and the environment in Halton Hills.
Highlights from this year’s celebrations include:
Community Clean Ups and the 22-Minute Makeover brought together approximately 7,000 participants, who collected 11,210 kilograms of waste—about the weight of a school bus.
100% of Halton Hills schools participated in the 22-Minute Makeover.
Participants included individuals, families, local businesses, community groups, Town staff, and members of Council.
Superior Glove Works generously donated bags and gloves to support community clean-up efforts.
The Annual Bike Swap kept approximately 100 bikes and trikes out of the landfill while raising $2,747 for local food banks.
Two community tree planting events resulted in 300 new trees being planted.
Residents collected 70 yards of compost and four tandem loads of woodchips, while also donating 180 pounds of food and $40 to local food banks.
The Halton Hills Public Library hosted a variety of environmental workshops, hikes, and craft programs throughout the week.

Turtles are on the move in Halton Hills from spring through fall. Sometimes, they choose an area that is less than ideal to lay their eggs, or they have been injured and need help.
