    Mayor Rick Bonnette Monthly Column

    Mayor's Column September 2017

    2017-09-12 13:29:00Mayor Rick Bonnette's Monthly Column

What a great way to cap off being ‘Canada’s Most Patriotic Town’ then to have Canada’s iconic Snowbirds do a fly past over Halton Hills.  Those of you who were able to come out, I am sure you felt a great sense of pride as these jets soared by.  The fly past by the Canadian Snowbirds is just another way that our Town has been taken to new heights.  I’m delighted that this recognition by such an esteemed and valued symbol of Canada will be sharing their talents with our community.

Special thanks to Glen Williams Sarah Simpson of Yorkshire Enterprises for making the arrangements through my office.  Sarah you gave a tremendous gift to many in Halton Hills as they enjoyed the fly past.

Did you know that one of the pilots is none other than Georgetown resident, Captain Maciej Hatta?  His proud mother came to my office with a wonderful picture of the Snowbirds with a special note from Captain Hatta, which reads:

“Town of Halton Hills, Congratulations on your very impressive and successful Most Patriotic Town in Canada challenge.  57,000 proudly flown Canadian flags is no small feat, and a great testament your community spirit!  As a local kid, it was both a moment of great pride and honour to take an aerial tour of the neighbourhood from my unique perspective aboard the 7 Jet.

Best wishes, Captain Maciej ‘Match’ Hatta”

I couldn’t say it any better myself.

Tis’ the season for the smell of burgers, fries and the sound of kids squealing on rides, yep, fall fair season has arrived.  Special thanks to the volunteers who worked hard for the Georgetown Fall Fair.  The same can be said for the Acton Fall Fair coming up this weekend.

Don’t forget the Terry Fox Run/Walk on September 17th.  Registration for the Acton starts at 8:00 at the Acton High School Track and registration for Georgetown starts at 10:00 at the Gellert Centre.

Many councillors along with myself were on hand for the official opening of Bradford White Canada on Brigden Gate in the Halton Hills Premier Gateway.  Their new home is a state of the art 75,000 sq ft building.  We are very pleased that Bradford White chose Halton Hills for their headquarters.

Congratulations to:   Grand Re-opening of Young's Pharmacy in Georgetown
