    SKATING RULES

    The following rules and regulations have been put into place to provide a pleasurable and safe skating environment for all participants. Protective Helmets are mandatory for all shinny sessions. Helmets are also strongly recommended to be worn by ANYONE attending any of the Town’s Recreational Skating programs.

    Each arena Ice surface has a maximum capacity of person allowed on the ice surface.
    The number of skaters allowed at any time is enforced to provide safe and enjoyable skating opportunities. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

    Skaters are asked to obey the Skate Patrols.

    Skating aids will only be available from the arena during Adult & Preschool skating while supply lasts.

    Participants may bring their own approved skating aid for Family Skating to be used in the designated beginner area.

    RECREATIONAL SKATING PROGRAMS

    Adult Mens Shinny
    For men 18 years and older. Full hockey equipment, including helmets must be worn. No body contact is allowed. Game is organized by participants. **Participant limits may be enforced on a first come first serve basis.

    Adult Shinny
    For men and women 18 years and older. Full hockey equipment, including helmets must be worn. No body contact is allowed. Game is organized by participants. **Participant limits may be enforced on a first come first serve basis.

    Adult Skating
    Persons 18 years of age and over. No hockey sticks or pucks are allowed.

    Adult Stick & Puck
    Work on puck control and skating drills. Helmets are mandatory. No hockey nets provided. Shooting of the puck is not allowed other than for passing drills.

    Adult Stick & Puck
    Work on puck control and skating drills. Helmets are mandatory. No hockey nets will be provided. Shooting of the puck is not allowed other than for passing drills.

    Adult Womens Shinny
    For women 18 years and older. Full hockey equipment, including helmets must be worn. No body contact is allowed. Game is organized by participants. **Participant limits may be enforced on a first come first serve basis.

    Family Skating
    Open to families only. At least 1 adult must accompany a maximum of 3 children. Skate aids are available.

    Figure Skating Pick-Up
    For experienced figure skaters with a certified coach. Admission required for all participants, including coaches.

    Home School Shinny
    Full hockey equipment, including helmets must be worn. No body contact is allowed. Game is organized by participants. *Participant limits may be enforced on a first come first serve basis.

    Parent & Tot Shinny
    Children 6 years of age and under can focus on having fun developing their hockey skills. Adults and preschoolers are permitted a stick and puck. For children, full hockey equipment including a CSA approved hockey helmet with face mask is mandatory. For adults, helmets are mandatory but full equipment is optional. Adults are not permitted to shoot the puck in a manner that may be dangerous to others on the ice.

    Parent & Tot Skating
    Skating for adults accompanied by children who are 6 years and under. Child must wear a helmet. No hockey sticks or pucks allowed. Skate aids are available.

    Public Skating
    Open to all ages.

    Senior Shinny
    55 years and over. Full hockey equipment, including helmets must be worn. No body contact is allowed. Game is organized by participants. **Participant limits may be enforced on a first come first serve basis.

    Stick & Puck Jr (6-9 yrs)
    For children 6-9 years of age. Work on puck control and skating drills. Shooting of the puck is not allowed other than for passing drills. Ratio of instructor/coach/parent to child is not to exceed 1:2. Full protective hockey equipment is required to be worn at all times. Helmets are mandatory for adults. Body contact, game play, scrimmages and goaltenders are NOT permitted.

    Stick & Puck Sr (10-13 yrs)
    For youth 10-13 years of age. Work on puck control and skating drills. Shooting of the puck is not allowed other than for passing drills. Ratio of instructor/coach/parent to child is not to exceed 1:2. Full protective hockey equipment is required to be worn at all times. Helmets are mandatory for adults. Body contact, game play, scrimmages and goaltenders are NOT permitted.

    Stick & Puck Sr (14-17 yrs)
    For youth 14-17 years of age. Work on puck control and skating drills. Shooting of the puck is not allowed other than for passing drills. Ratio of instructor/coach/parent to child is not to exceed 1:2. Full protective hockey equipment is required to be worn at all times. Helmets are mandatory for adults. Body contact, game play, scrimmages and goaltenders are NOT permitted.
