    Town Initiated Zoning By-Law Amendment Affecting the Protected Countryside Natural Heritage System Zones

    On July 9, 2012, Council for the Corporation of the Town of Halton Hills passed By-law No. 2012-0058, being a By-law to amend By-law 2010-0050, as amended, affecting the Protected Countryside Natural Heritage System Zones. See Notice of Passing.

    The Zoning By-law Amendment affects the Protected Countryside Natural Heritage System 1 (PC-NHS1) and Protected Countryside Natural Heritage System 2 (PC-NHS2) Zones in the Comprehensive Zoning By-law. These Zones are within the Provincial Greenbelt Plan Area in the Town of Halton Hills.

    The Zoning By-law Amendment:

    • recognizes legally existing single detached dwellings within the Protected Countryside Natural Heritage System One (PC-NHS1) Zone;
    • permits the construction of new single detached dwellings, replacement or expansion of existing permitted buildings and accessory buildings in the PC-NHS1 Zone,  subject to a Holding provision triggered by size or location;
    • applies the Country Residential Zone standards for single detached dwellings within the Protected Countryside Natural Heritage System One and Two Zones;
    • includes standards for accessory buildings on properties within the PC-NHS1 Zone; and,
    • rezones a portion of the clearing on the property described as Con. 1 Pt. Lot 16 RP 20R10472, Parts 2, 3, 4, (6323 15th Sideroad) from PC-NHS1 to PC-NHS2.

    Additional details and rationale for the changes are provided in the staff report and draft Zoning By-law Amendment below.
