The Town of Halton Hills welcomes film productions of all sizes. We have several ideal filming locations that have been used for many recognized film and television productions.
All filming in Halton Hills must be submitted to the Town to ensure safety and consideration of our community. Fill out the Film Inquiry Form and someone from the Town of Halton Hills will be in contact with you to review the necessary requirements.
All film productions, regardless of size or location of filming, must notify the Town’s Clerks Office to ensure appropriate parties are aware of your project and there are no conflicts with upcoming festivals, events or roadwork.
Apply for your permit at least 20 business days before you plan to start filming. If your project involves a road closure or hazardous activities, such as gunfire, vehicle stunts or extreme special effects, a longer approval period may be necessary.
Fill out a Film Inquiry Form to start the process. You need to have a project outline including proposed number of filming days, potential road closure requests, parking needs, and a project timeline.
The Town cannot provide recommendations for private property filming.
The Town of Halton Hills is registered with Ontario Creates - Ontario Film Commission, an agency of the Government of Ontario, which offers resources to production companies for location selection, tax incentives and grants for domestic film and post-production to support our local film industry.

Do I need a film permit? |
Yes. Each film production will require different approvals based on size and location. Fill out the Film Inquiry Form and a Town staff member will be in contact with you to review the necessary requirements. |
I am interested in filming on private property, do I still need to inform the Town? |
Yes. Contact the Town after you have received approval from the land owner for filming on private property. |
I am a resident concerned about a film project, who can I contact? |
If you are concerned about work being undertaken by a film crew in your neighbourhood, contact the Clerks Office at the Town of Halton Hills. |
How can I get production companies to consider my property as a film location? |
The Ontario Film Commission maintains an online resource of locations across Ontario. This digital library is used to attract foreign production to Ontario, to promote the unique views and vistas found in communities (including private assets like buildings and land), but most importantly it is a location manager’s first stop when breaking down a script and looking for locations. By including your property on the OFC website, it allows you the ability not only to attract film projects to your property, but to assist in attracting projects to Halton Hills. There is no cost to be listed. Visit the Ontario location registration page. |
