HALTON HILLS, ON – Do you believe you can answer your community’s call for help? The Halton Hills Fire Department is recruiting for part-time firefighters to join a group of dedicated individuals that work to protect and save the lives of people in the community.
Part-time firefighters will face new and challenging situations fighting fires, performing rescues, administering first aid, dealing with hazardous materials, protecting property, and possibly be instrumental in saving lives. New hires will complement the current staffing at all Halton Hills Fire Stations (Headquarters Station and the Maple Avenue Station in Georgetown and the Churchill Road Station in Acton).
“Firefighting is a diverse and challenging position,” said Commissioner & Fire Chief Jon Rehill. “Being a part-time firefighter provides individuals with personal satisfaction and rewards too numerous to mention. This job requires commitment and hard work to meet the challenges of the position.”
Deputy Chief Martin Mills provided information on the upcoming recruitment evenings, advising that: “We are looking to hire part-time firefighters from all backgrounds, with a variety of skills. Interested candidates should attend one of our information sessions held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13 at the Maple Ave Station or Wednesday, September 14 at the Acton Station. Questions about the hiring process or part-time firefighting in general, will be answered at these sessions. Applications will be available online as of Friday September 16 and will be accepted up to 4 p.m. on Friday September 30.”
