HALTON HILLS, ON – From April 15 to 19, Volunteer Canada and the Town of Halton Hills unite in celebrating the invaluable contributions of volunteers during National Volunteer Week. Under the theme "Every Moment Matters," this annual recognition shines a spotlight on the profound impact of every volunteer's selfless dedication, regardless of the scale of their efforts.
“Volunteers add huge amounts of heart and soul to our community, making profound contributions that improve the quality of life we are so privileged to enjoy.” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “As we mark National Volunteer Week, let's honor their kindness and dedication, as they give their time and talents to support, educate and nurture us.”
In Halton Hills, the spirit of volunteerism manifests in many ways, from coaching kids' sports teams to conserving our significant cultural heritage resources, from fundraising for charitable causes to infusing joy into community events like the Santa Claus Parades and Canada Day festivities. With over 1,500 dedicated community volunteers, the collective impact of their efforts is immeasurable.
At the Town of Halton Hills, volunteers are instrumental in supporting various recreational programs, including aquatics, camps, gallery, trail systems, special events, and the Hillsview Active Living Centres. Last year alone, over 411 volunteers generously contributed more than 27,727 total hours of their time.
During this National Volunteer Week, if you encounter a volunteer in Halton Hills, please take a moment to express your appreciation.
