HALTON HILLS, ON – Complaints about unleashed canines and barking dogs have prompted the Town to step up messaging about responsible pet ownership. “We know our residents love their pets and we want to support them,” said Susie Spry, Manager of Enforcement Services. “One of the ways we do this is for dog owners to get a dog license which is mandatory under the Town’s Responsible Pet Owners By-law 94-077. This makes it easier to reunite you with your pet in the event your dog goes missing.”
Dog licenses can be obtained through the Town’s website at haltonhills.ca or in person during regular business hours.
Dog owners are also responsible for ensuring that their pets are leashed in public areas.
Residents interested in letting Fido stretch his/her legs off leash are asked to utilize one of the three designated leash free areas located at:
“We all want the best for our pets,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “And that means adhering to the by-laws that are in place to limit issues while allowing our four-legged friends to run and play.”
