HALTON HILLS, ON – The Halton Hills Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) to recognize Fire Prevention Week ™ (FPW), October 8-14, 2023. This year’s FPW campaign, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention™,” works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe when cooking.
The Halton Hills Fire Department encourages all residents to embrace the 2023 Fire Prevention Week theme.
“Whether cooking in the kitchen or over a campfire, accidents happen and flames can get out of control. Be alert, keep flammable items such as oven mitts or dishtowels away from the stove top and know how to put out small grease fires and open flames,” said Fire Chief Jon Rehill. “If in doubt, have everyone exit the home and call 9-1-1.”
