HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills is kicking off the 2024 Go Green Halton Hills Series which will continue throughout the fall with a variety of events, guest speakers, and workshops. This series will raise awareness about environmental actions that support a resilient, and healthy environmental community rich in biodiversity. Mark your calendars to attend the Go Green Halton Hills event on Saturday, August 24 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library and Cultural Centre, located at 9 Church Street, Georgetown.
Go Green Halton Hills is a free family event offered in partnership with the Halton Hills Public Library and Cultural Centre and the Downtown Georgetown Farmers Market with environmental groups, local businesses, and Plug’n Drive.
“Get inspired!” said Mayor Lawlor. “Hear from experts and community members about actions that support a healthier environment such as improving home energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, native gardening, tree planting, birdwatching, and local biodiversity. This event is the launch of the 2024 Go Green Halton Hills series to highlight actions that support clean air and a healthy environment for all who live here.”
Go Green Halton Hills showcases a wide variety of positive climate actions, free activities, and resources including:
Presentations on binoculars and birdwatching, understanding heat pumps, solar energy installations, and owning an electric vehicle.
Electric vehicle test drives offered by Plug’n Drive (valid drivers license required) and EV owners available to answer questions about buying an electric vehicle.
Environmental groups that support climate-friendly and healthy activities such as walking, hiking, and cycling.
Home retrofit and energy efficiency business representatives ready to chat.
Town booths with information about sustainable transportation options such as ActiVan, Youth Taxi Script, cycling and walking trails.
Tour the Halton Hills Public Library and Cultural Centre to see its green features that reduce energy and water consumption including its green roof.
Many indoor activities offered by the Halton hills Public Library, including kids’ activities and Storytime.
