HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town is excited to announce its annual Earth Week celebration, featuring a variety of events and activities designed to support a healthy environment. This year's theme focuses on enhancing natural assets, promoting local biodiversity, and contributing to a resilient, low-carbon community.
“There are many ways residents can take action to support a healthy environment. Please pitch in to benefit us today and for generations to come,” says Mayor Lawlor. “Whether you participate in the 22-Minute Makeover, Community Cleanup, plant a tree, or choose to walk or ride your bike instead of driving, each of your actions makes a positive difference.”
Building on previous year’s events, and partnerships with local businesses and conservation authorities, the Town is offering a range of indoor and outdoor activities for all ages and interests from April 22 to 29, 2025.
Highlights of Earth Week include:
Community Living Room featuring Repair Café
And so much more!
Town residents will also be able to pick-up free compost and woodchip mulch at the Robert C. Austin Operations Centre (Public Works) on April 26. Compost is courtesy of Halton Region, and the Town is providing the woodchips.
New this year to the list of activities is the Hungry Hollow Earth Day Tree Planting. Join Credit Valley Conservation and your neighbours to plants trees to recognize Earth Day!
Also new this year are the “Meet Your Councillors at the Clean Up” events at 11 a.m., Saturday April 26, where community members can engage directly with their local Councillors while contributing to a cleaner, greener neighborhood. These events offer a unique opportunity to discuss local issues, and share ideas, all while participating in a community clean-up effort. Clean-up supplies will be provided. Visit the website for more information on where your Councillors will be leading their clean-up efforts. You'll find specific locations, times, and how to register for the event.
Join us in celebrating Earth Week and making our community a greener, healthier place to live.
