National Volunteer Week is April 16 - 22 and the theme is ‘Volunteering Weaves Us Together.’ In Halton Hills, volunteers mean enthusiasm, participation, and impact. To everyone who has made our Town better through your selfless efforts – whether big or small gestures - thank you!
‘Work’ by multi-talented volunteers in service clubs and non-profit groups mean that kids sports teams have coaches, unique heritage buildings are maintained, funds are raised for charitable causes, and there is fun at community events such as the Santa Claus Parades or Canada Day.
Also, volunteers support Town recreation programs: aquatics, camps, the art gallery, trails systems, special events and the seniors’ centres. Last year, Town of Halton Hills volunteers contributed more than 17,500 hours. At a $15 minimum wage, the value of volunteer contributions to the Town is $262,500 per year. That’s a big saving on our property tax!
Earth Week activities offer many chances for residents to pitch in and make a difference for the planet and our Town.
