Mayor Ann Lawlor's March 2023 Message

We want to hear from you! Residents’ ideas and preferences are important when Halton Hills town staff plan new facilities, neighbourhood features or play areas. Citizen input is documented in a variety of ways such as public meetings and open houses, contacts with Town Councillors and online surveys through Let’s Talk Halton Hills.

The public is invited to weigh in on a few projects that could enhance our Town services and character:

• Outdoor Ice Strategy – considering skating and shiny options ranging from artificial to natural rinks in several parks to creating skating trails on Fairy Lake. Comments close March 24, 2023.
• New playground equipment at Cedarvale Park which will be inclusive, accessible and safe for play.  Let us know by March 20 if there should be tunnels, towers, ziplines or natural timbers.
• Long range vision and planning for the Georgetown Go Station Area and Mill Street Corridor (Secondary Plan Review).  This involves high density housing on land just north and east of the train station, in line with Provincial directives for intensification at major transit nodes.  Comments and questions are welcome now.
• Land use planning continues in the industrial/employment area north of Steeles Avenue, between Eighth Line and Winston Churchill. Currently agricultural, these lands close to major Provincial transportation corridors will be converted to industrial and commercial uses.  Check out and comment on the technical reports, urban design guidelines and land use concepts.
