HALTON HILLS, ON – Man’s best friend will be celebrated at an event on Saturday, June 4 marking a new off-leash dog park at 11494 Trafalgar Road in Georgetown. While the park was open last November, the onset of warmer weather has allowed the Town to host an official opening event.
“I am very happy to see this facility open for all the other dog lovers in this Town,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “As a dog owner myself, I know how important it is for our four-legged friends to have a place to run and socialize; I am so glad we were able to make this paw-sible.”
Opening day events will take place between noon and 2 p.m. and will include:
The facility located on the east side of Trafalgar Sports Park near Devereaux House was approved by Town Council in 2018 as a partnership between the municipality and Leash Free Halton Hills --- a group of volunteers and dog owners who help maintain local leash free parks. The new off-leash park is 9300 m² and features a shelter, pathways, lighting, additional parking, an area for small dogs and an in-ground waste disposal.
Halton Hills has two other smaller off-leash areas in Prospect Park (Acton) and Cedarvale Park (Georgetown). Find out how to join Leash Free Halton Hills by visiting their website at leashfreehaltonhills.com.
