Date of Public Meeting: December 11th, 2023
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Town Hall, 1 Halton Hills Drive Halton Hills Ontario L7G 5G2
The Town of Halton Hills invites you to attend a Statutory Public Meeting to discuss a proposed Housekeeping Amendment to the Town of Halton Hills Official Plan.
The purpose and effect of the proposed Official Plan Amendment is to amend the Implementation Section of the Official Plan in order to provide alternative notice policies for amendments to the Official Plan in-keeping with s. 17(19.3)
of the Planning Act, and Zoning By-law Amendments in-keeping with s. 34(14.3) of the Planning Act. This will allow the Town to provide notices for public meetings via digital means rather than in a printed newspaper and provide policies to eliminate the requirement for public notices and meetings for minor amendments, for example, correcting grammatical errors and/or changes to numbering sections.
The Public Meeting will give the community and stakeholders an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the proposal.
The Housekeeping Amendment applies to the entire Town and therefore there is no map provided.
A copy of the staff report and related amendment will be available on December 1st, 2023 on the Town’s website at haltonhills.ca/calendars. If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Town of Halton Hills in respect to the Official Plan Amendment, you must make a written request to the Town of Halton Hills – PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT at 1 Halton Hills Drive, Halton Hills, Ontario L7G 5G2.
The Planning Act requires that a Statutory Public Meeting must be held on any proposed amendments to the Official Plan to ensure that the public has an opportunity to review and ask questions about the information being provided in advance of the Statutory Public Meeting.
If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of the Town of Halton Hills to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Halton Hills before the proposed Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to the Town of Halton Hills before the proposed Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
Any written comment/objection submitted to the Town of Halton Hills regarding the Proposed Official Plan Amendment may be made public as part of the process.
For more information about this matter, including information about appeal rights, contact Kelly Aldridge, Senior Policy Planner at 905-703-6599 or email.
