HALTON HILLS, ON – Mayor Ann Lawlor shares a laugh with Halton Hills staff as they don comic red noses for a ‘Staff Red Nose Day’. The initiative is a play on the Red Nose Campaign that sells red noses in support of the Townsend Smith Foundation.
“In these dreary days of February, why wouldn’t we take part in a campaign that puts the ‘fun’ in fundraiser,” said the Mayor. “We distributed the spongy red noses to staff and hope that they bring smiles to people’s faces. Library patrons, people dropping into the Town Hall and kids greeted by their crossing guards might see Town staff who suddenly look a bit clownish. I hope it brightens up the day.”
The Town of Halton Hills, with a population of approximately 64,000, consists of two urban centres, Georgetown and Acton, the Halton Hills Premier Gateway employment area, three hamlets – Glen Williams, Stewarttown and Norval – and several smaller settlements. Halton Hills has long been recognized for its natural beauty, active agricultural community, high quality of life and proximity to major centres, including Brampton, Mississauga and Toronto. The Town is ranked as one of the top small communities in Canada by a national magazine.
