HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills proudly awarded a $30,000 grant from its Building and Property Renovation Program in the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) to Trinity United Church in Acton. This funding has been instrumental in upgrading the church's community kitchen and rental space, ensuring it continues to serve as a vibrant hub for the Acton community.
Trinity United Church has long been a cornerstone of support and connection in Acton, hosting vital programs such as Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Brownies, Guides, and quilting groups. The facility enhancements aim to expand rental opportunities and accommodate additional events and collaborations to benefit the local community.
Mayor Ann Lawlor, alongside Ward 1 Councillors Michael Albano and Alex Hilson, BIA Manager Matthew Galliford, and members of the Town’s Economic Development division, presented a ceremonial cheque to the church in recognition of this achievement.
"The enhancements at Trinity United Church not only improve the functionality of the space but also strengthen the sense of connection and support within Acton. We are proud to contribute to such a valuable community asset that provides much needed event and meeting space for Halton Hills," said Mayor Ann Lawlor.
"These upgrades to our kitchen and meeting spaces will allow us to better serve our community,” said Judi Shannon, a member of Trinity United Church and lead applicant for the grant. “With our central location, we’re excited to host more events and provide an accessible rental space for local organizations."
The Community Improvement Plan offers grants and loans to eligible businesses and organizations, encouraging revitalization, attracting private sector investment, supporting the redevelopment of underutilized properties, and bolstering local job opportunities.
