The Town of Halton Hills is exploring opportunities towards a safe and efficient trucking strategy that supports economic and employment activities, while balancing the needs of the community.
This study will identify a long-term strategy for truck movements and aligns with the Town's 2014-2018 Strategic Action Plan Priorities. In 2017, the Town will consult with residents and businesses to develop solutions that will help direct truck traffic away from our downtowns and urban areas. Public consultation activities will help identify the issues, opportunities, and challenges for developing a trucking strategy for the community. The purpose of the trucking strategy for Halton Hills will be to:

Truck traffic in Halton Hills |

Trucking is the primary mode for goods movement within and through Halton Hills. Local roads permit use by all vehicles, including trucks, unless otherwise restricted by the Town's Uniform Traffic Control By-Law and posted on roads. These restrictions are used to protect road infrastructure that was not designed to bear heavy loads, or where truck traffic is unsuitable. A range of restrictions are in place as depicted below. A "Heavy Truck" is a commercial vehicle with a weight of 3+ tonnes, when unloaded, and 5+ tonnes when loaded

A key component of the trucking strategy is consultation and engagement with members of the public, stakeholders and interested agencies and groups. We want to hear from you and we want your thoughts on the future of trucking in Halton Hills. Within each phase there will be an opportunity for you to provide your input.
